Cape Cod Chapter

The chapter holds monthly meetings from September to March with a variety of speakers. Each meeting also includes a plant raffle and is preceded by a hospitality period of coffee and goodies.   New members are given a starter rhododendron at their first meeting.  Visitors are welcome to attend and see what we are all about.  If you have any questions about becoming a member, you can contact us at members@capecodrhododendrons.org.

The Chapter has a small library for use by members only.

Club Members are encouraged to take part in a national seed exchange program. They can also participate in the Plants for Members program by joining the Massachusetts Chapter and taking part in a year long cutting and rooting program to propagate several hundred rhododendrons for sale each year. Current chapter members include many life-long growers, several active hybridizers and significant collectors.

Annual Plant Sales

Each year in May, the Cape Cod Chapter conducts two sales of rhododendrons at separate upper and lower Cape locations. Most recently, the sales were held in Sandwich and Orleans. Recent sales have featured a wide variety of hand selected plants ranging from dwarf varieties to large “balled & burlaped” specimens. Many are difficult or impossible to find in local garden centers. All are considered “hardy” for Cape Cod and the Islands.

Larry Pannell will again manage our plant sales in 2008. This will be Larry's fourth year and each one gets better. Please come out and help.
